SEAI now grant-aids replacement windows and external doors as part of its home energy upgrade supports. The window grant scales with house type, and the external door grant covers up to two doors per home. Both are delivered through the One Stop Shop pathway, not as standalone individual grants.
How much is the window grant?
Older single-glazed or early double-glazed windows are a major source of heat loss. Replacing them with high-performance glazing improves comfort and your BER. The grant value depends on your house type, since a detached home has far more window area than an apartment.

How much is the external door grant?
The external door grant is a flat amount per door, capped at two doors per home.

Eligibility
To qualify for the window and door grants:
- Your home must have been built and occupied before 2011.
- You must own the property (owner-occupiers and landlords qualify).
- The work must be delivered through a registered One Stop Shop.
- You cannot have already claimed the same measure for this home.

Why these are part of the One Stop Shop
Unlike attic insulation or solar PV, windows and doors are offered through the One Stop Shop route rather than as individual grants. A One Stop Shop provider manages the whole job: the pre-works assessment, the registered installers, the works, and the grant claim. The grant is typically netted off your invoice rather than paid back to you afterwards.

What it actually costs
The grant offsets part of the bill, not the whole thing. Replacing windows across a typical home runs well above the grant value, so treat the grant as a contribution rather than full funding.
