Privacy

What we ask you for

Nothing. There are no accounts, no logins, no newsletter and no comments. We do not ask for your name, your address, your Eircode or your phone number anywhere on the site.

The only way to contact us is the email address on the contact page. If you email us, we have your message and the address you sent it from, sitting in an inbox until we delete it. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not pass it to anyone.

The calculators never leave your browser

The grant eligibility checker, the solar payback calculator and the heat pump running cost calculator all run entirely on your own device. The eligibility checker asks some personal questions — when your home was built, whether you own it, what you heat it with, whether anyone in the house gets a welfare payment. Those answers are held in your browser's memory only for as long as the page is open.

They are never sent to us, never stored, and never shared with SEAI, an installer or anyone else. There is no server to send them to: the whole site is static files. Reload the page and the answers are gone.

Google Analytics

Only if you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read. It sets cookies in your browser and records the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, and what device and browser you used.

It does not record your name, your address or anything else that identifies you personally, and we never send it any. It also does not see what you type into the calculators. We measure tool starts, successful result views after an interaction, and related-reading clicks. These events contain only tool identifiers or destination paths, never your answers or financial inputs. Google processes the data on our behalf, under the Google Privacy Policy.

Use “Analytics cookie settings” in the footer to reject or withdraw consent. The site and tools work without analytics. Your choice is stored on your device; we stop sending events and remove our analytics cookies when you reject. Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Analytics on every site, not just this one. Most tracker blockers stop it too. Nothing here breaks if you block it.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any host, Cloudflare logs the requests it serves: your IP address, the time, the page and your browser. That is what keeps the site online and blocks attacks. We do not use those logs for analytics and we do not build profiles from them.

Links out

Every figure on the site links to where it came from, usually SEAI or an energy supplier's own page. Those are plain links with no referral code and no affiliate tag — we earn nothing if you click one. Once you are on someone else's site, their privacy policy applies, not ours.

What is not here

• No ads and no ad scripts run on the site.
• No affiliate or referral links, and no lead generation. We do not sell your details to installers, because we do not have them.
• No tracking pixels, no Facebook pixel, no remarketing tags.
• No YouTube, map or social media embeds. Nothing on a page is loaded from another company's server except Google Analytics.
• No Google Fonts and no CDN. Every image and stylesheet is served from this site.

If any of that changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves.

Your rights

Under GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. In practice we hold nothing that identifies you unless you have emailed us, in which case it is that email — ask and it goes. The Analytics data is not tied to a name, so we cannot pick your visit out of it even if you ask.

If you think we have handled something badly, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission.
