Research, sources and corrections
upgraded.ie is an independent Irish home-upgrade information site published by the upgraded.ie editorial team. We are not SEAI, a grant administrator or an installer. Our guides help you prepare questions and compare options; they do not approve a grant or replace a professional survey.
Where figures come from
We use SEAI for grant rules and published energy data, and suppliers for their own tariffs. Published rates can describe a past reporting period. Installation prices depend on the scope of your works: use a written quote, not a grant ceiling, as your project budget.
Manual research and automatic collection
Each stored figure has a source and date. “Manual” means researched by hand. “Collected” means read automatically from a source. A daily refresh attempts to collect supported sources; it does not recheck every manual figure. When collection fails, the last available value stays in place with its original source date.
Historical installation estimates are labelled as estimates. We do not treat a general information page as proof of a particular current contractor price. If a price cannot be substantiated, we describe the quote items instead.
Review dates and expertise
An article’s updated date records an editorial change. Dates beside figures refer to those figures separately. We link to primary guidance for grant conditions, building control and consumer rights. We do not claim that every article has been reviewed by an engineer, architect or BER assessor.
Calculators and limitations
Calculator inputs stay in your browser. Results are estimates based on the assumptions shown. Simple payback does not include financing, future price changes, degradation or component replacement. Change the tariff and installed cost to match your own documents. Grant approval and technical suitability need separate checks.
Commercial interests
We currently have no advertising, affiliate commissions or installer lead sales. If that changes, we will disclose it where it matters and update this page.
Corrections
