Who qualifies
You can apply if you meet the following:
- You own or are the registered user of an electric vehicle (EV) or plug-in hybrid (PHEV), or you are installing as part of an apartment/multi-unit development.
- You have off-street parking dedicated to the property, such as a driveway or designated space.
- The property has a suitable electrical supply, or one can be provided.
- You use a registered electrician to carry out the installation.
A charger fitted on a public road or shared on-street space does not qualify, the parking must be off-street and associated with your home.
Apartments and shared parking
There is a dedicated route for apartments and multi-unit developments. Because the electrical works and parking are shared, the application usually involves the building’s owners’ management company, which coordinates the installation across spaces. If you live in an apartment, raise it with your management company early, as the process takes longer than a single driveway install.
